About Us
George Fox’s Journey for Inner Peace
In seventeenth-century England, many groups of Christians were dissatisfied with the rigid forms of the Church of England. This dissatisfaction led to a new way of worship and life. Seeking a more inwardly satisfying way of prayer and life, Goerge Fox (1624-1691) went as a young to many priests seeking inner peace and to receive only relevant answers. None had quenched his thirst, so one day, he heard a voice in the mountain meditating, asking God in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Finally, he heard a voice saying, “There is one, Christ Jesus, that can speak to thy condition to all humanity,” Joy filled his heart. From this experience, the central conviction of “Friends” was born – that the living Christ can speak directly to the needs of every seeking soul. This rich history and tradition is the foundation of our community, connecting us to our past and guiding us into the future.
Our Belief in Friendship with Christ:
We profoundly believe in becoming Christ’s friends at the Christian Community Friends Church (CCFC)—PA. This belief transcends our backgrounds, ethnicities, castes, or statuses. We see ourselves as a family under the same Father, God, through His begotten Son, Jesus Christ, in the presence of God, the Holy Spirit. This belief in friendship with Christ and family under God is the cornerstone of our community, making us an inclusive and welcoming space for all who seek spiritual growth.
The church is founded on John 15:12-15 (NRSV): “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you servants because the servant does not know what the master is doing, but I have called you friends because I have told you everything I have heard from my father.”
Our Mission and Affiliation:
CCFC—PA is a community church in North America (US) that has been on a mission since 2015. Our mission is clear: reach out to Nepali and Hindi-speaking people from Nepal, Bhutan, and India, sharing the love of Christ and forming a community of believers. We are proud to be affiliated with EFC-ER (Evangelical Friends Church—Eastern Region), a network of over 90 Evangelical Friends Churches in the Eastern regions of the US. This affiliation strengthens our commitment and expands our network, allowing us to reach more people and spread the message of Christ’s love.
Partnering with Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM):
EFC-ER partners with EFM (Evangelical Friends Mission) and is committed to sending, going, supporting, and praying for missions in Africa, South Asia, Central Asia, Europe, and the Gulf nations.
